Fighting on D-Day Not Knowing How to Swim

My grandpa was a machinist with the RCAF during WWII.

His parents died when he was young, so he only had an 8th grade education, working as a farm hand instead of going to school.

He never learned how to swim.

When he fought on D-Day, he did so without a life jacket. But he made it home from the war.

My grandpa made sure his kids and grandkids were educated and knew how to swim.

Though he died when I was young, my most indelible memories with him were swimming in his pool looking up at him watching from the side with his oxygen mask on.

We all have had unique opportunities and gifts to develop skills. Whether it’s the skill of swimming or shooting. But those skills aren’t for us, they are for us to share and contribute.

My unique skill is an understanding of the brain and how to train the sensory systems for performance. Thanks for the opportunity to share it with you.
