Asking “So What?”

Asking "So What?"

Anytime I read a research paper I constantly am asking myself “So what?”

This isn’t in a dismissive way. It’s so my brain sees the information given to me and finds a way to make it meaningful to the people I serve.

This article, Evidence of Dynamic Visual Acuity Impairments in Asymptomatic Mixed Martial Arts Fighters (2017) was a game changer for me.

Asking So What? when reading this sent me down a rabbit hole I am way too deep in to ever get out.

In fact, I started this company and my mission because of this article.

So What?

Well this is a huge piece of evidence on the subtle impacts repeated subconcussive exposures can have on the sensory systems.

So What?

These systems are really important for performance. If they aren’t performing at their highest level it’s stopping you from performing at yours.

So What?

In the tactical community those subtle changes can mean the difference between life or death.

So What?

Why aren’t more people talking about this?! This is important and should be met with urgency!

So What?

It’s not just the performance side of things either, this will have huge consequences on their quality-of-life years down the line. I see it every day.

So, what are you going to do about it? (me still talking to myself)

The article is actually all about how subconcussions impact target focus. I break it down in the video below. As you watch it I hope you ask the question So What? It might help you find new ways to see and apply the information.

Let me know if it does.
