When The Only Constant Is Chaos

The only constant for a tactical athlete is chaos.

The unpredictable nature of the job requires a strong foundation of readiness.

Job specific skills, strength, and endurance are all foundational elements vital for readiness. But to be ready for chaos that alone isn’t enough.

It is one thing to lift heavy in the gym, another to lift an awkward load in the pouring rain while sleep deprived. The greatest asset to a team isn’t the individual who is a sharpshooter in perfect conditions, but the one who maintains that skill under extreme conditions.

When chaos is the constant it is impossible to train for every possible scenario.

That’s why you train to build the strongest foundation to work from.

Any scenario of chaos will look like this;

  1. Input
  2. Processing
  3. Output

Output will be the specific response – utilizing the speed, strength, and unique skill set of the tactical athlete.

Processing is the brain interpreting the inputs to command the best output.

Input is the sensory systems (4 situational awareness systems) receiving information from the environment and sending it to the brain for processing.

When the only constant is chaos you must train to build the strongest foundation by optimizing all 3 steps – input, processing, and output.

The individuals with the strongest foundation to work from will face chaos with the greatest advantage and elevate the bar for what’s possible for human performance.
